Dr. Stéphanie Villar

Dr Stéphanie Villar has been a staff at IARC/WHO since October 2000. Following a successful research career and a series of roles on different international projects, she oversaw the sequencing platforms at the Agency. Dr. Villar completed her PhD in 2012 on the “Interaction between aflatoxin mutagenesis and chronic Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection” focusing on two countries with a high incidence, Gambia and Thailand. In October 2017, Dr. Villar became the Laboratory Safety Officer at IARC/WHO joining the Laboratory Services and Biobank team. Her extensive knowledge and hands-on laboratory expertise allows her to supervise several laboratory services at IARCWHO, to train internal and external collaborators on different laboratory aspects and to deliver workshops and lectures nationally and internationally.
