Genetic Fragile Fracture

This genetic study aims to look at gene variants associated with fragility hip fracture and compression vertebral fracture in the Qatari and Arab population.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Patients who have sustained fragility hip fracture and compression vertebral fracture
  • Recruitment through osteoporosis database of rheumatology division of Hamad Medical Corporation
Cystic Fibrosis - CF Omics

This is a nested study that aims to identify SARS-CoV-2 resistance factors within Cystic Fibrosis patients in the Gulf Region.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Clinical diagnosis of Cystic Fibrosis
  • Recruitment through pulmonary and chest clinics at Hamad General Hospital
Qatar Cardiovascular Biorepository Atrial-Fibrillation (QCBio)

The QCBio study is a disease-based study for people who have a clinical diagnosis of atrial fibrillation and their family members.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Qatari National or GCC national
  • Over the age of 18
  • Atrial Fibrillation (AF) diagnosis or early onset
  • Relative of a participant already registered in this study

COVID-19 Biorepository

The COVID-19 Biorepository is a national disease-based study aiming to collect health information and biological samples from 6,000 participants to support evidence-based research.

The COVID-19 Biorepository was established at the start of the pandemic and has two arms:

  • The disease arm for participants with a confirmed positive laboratory diagnostic test for COVID-19
  • The vaccination arm for participants receiving their COVID-19 vaccination

This study is currently not admitting new participants.

COHORTS

Qatar Population Cohort Study

The Qatar population cohort study is the first and longest running study aiming to collect high-quality biological samples and annotated data for 60,000 participants from Qataris and long-term Qatar residents who live in Qatar for at least 15 years (age ≥ 18 years) to promote medical research in Qatar and worldwide.

To find out if you are eligible to participate, please look at the criteria below.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Qatari National
  • Long-term resident of 15 years or more
  • Over the age of 18

What Will Participating Involve?

  • Height, weight, grip strength, blood pressure, body composition, heart and lung function measurements
  • Blood, urine, and saliva samples
  • Questionnaire and participant feedback
  • MRI scan for body and brain during the second visit
  • Follow-up visit after five years

Qatar Twin Biorepository

The aim of the Qatar Twin Biorepository is to help understand the inheritance of complex diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Qatari or resident twins (Children or Adults)
  • Family members of twins (Children or Adults)
  • Arabic or English speakers

Qatar Birth Cohort Study

The Qatari Birth Cohort study is the first mother-child cohort study in the Gulf that aims to assess the synergetic role of environmental exposure and genetic factors in the development of chronic diseases.

The study aims to follow 3,000 women during pregnancy, at delivery, and then follow their children and fathers (Mother-Child-Father triads) for five years.

What is the purpose of this research?

This study observes women during pregnancy, their children, and fathers to determine genetic and life-course influences on childhood health and disease development.

The information collected will help us understand the causes of illness and improve health and wellbeing.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Pregnant Qatari National female and their husband
  • Pregnant long-term resident of 15 years or more and their husband
