Jorge Ortega-Marquez earned from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) an MD degree (2023), a Master in Medical Sciences in Clinical Investigation at Harvard Medical School (2025) with a certificate on Mini-Master in Business Administration (mMBA) from Harvard Griffin Business Club, and Certificate on Biomedical Innovation from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). |
Dr. Ortega-Marquez is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Neuromodulation Center, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, where he leads a clinical trial investigating the mechanisms of the placebo effect in stroke recovery. He also serves as a Biomedical Research Scientist in the Laboratory of Translational Neuroimaging at Boston Children’s Hospital, where he studies neural mechanisms and brain networks underlying symptoms in neurodevelopmental conditions, with the aim of identifying novel targets for non-invasive neuromodulation therapies. In addition, he is a Senior Teaching Assistant in the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research program at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. |
He has received multiple awards including Academic Merit Youth Award-Mexican Government (2023); One of 100 brilliant minds of Mexico-Mexican Medical Alliance Society (2022); Dean’s Scholarship-Harvard Medical School (2023); Special Public Health Scholarship-Harvard Mexico Foundation (2023); Clinical Research Scholar (2022) Award and Outstanding Teaching Assistant (2023; 2024) -Harvard T.H.
